Legacy
A/N:... I'm sorryEating quickly and slipping back to the classroom before the end of lunch came with its perks.Nova ended up being in there instead of the crowded hallway once alarms started blaring. The windows showed the press had infiltrated the campus, so she immediately knew that it was just the media sneaking in that set off the alarm. What she didn't know was that apparently Iida used Uraraka's quirk to fling himself into the air and stand over the exit sign in order to relay the news of the press to everyone else. The idea was kinda funny to Nova. She wished she could have seen it. But she was also glad she hadn't been pushed around in that hallway like everyone else.Because of Iida's quick thinking and calmness in the chaotic hallway, they ended up giving him Midoriya's place as class rep. Meaning Nova's vote ended up winning anyways. She was glad for it, he seemed proud. While he was standing at the front of the classroom distracted Nova used her quirk to slip the glasses she had broken back into his bag. Good as new.Class soon came to a close and all of them began packing up, ready to go home. Nova was definitely ready too. Another long school day of feeling like shit. At least they didn't have training today, that would have made her feel worse. The classroom was almost clear by the time Nova finished. People leaving in small groups, chatting with their friends as they walked home together."Oi villain."Nova tried not to mind the voice behind her. Biting her lip as she slipped her books into her bag."I'm fucking talking to you, villain."She ignored it again, hearing steps coming closer to her.Someone shoved her shoulder suddenly. Rough enough to push her into her desk. She turned around. It was that crazy blonde boy.Bakugou.She knew he'd probably be the type to give her trouble. He reminded her of a few different people she'd met in middle school. But she had been hoping to avoid him completely."T-thats not my name." Nova said with a frown. Looking for a way out. She wasn't the type to completely stand up for herself. No, that led to fights, and fights always led to her getting expelled. She didn't want to get expelled. Not from UA. She couldn't afford another expulsion. Unless she intended to just never go back to another school. Although maybe being a highschool dropout wouldn't be so bad, she could get a job as a fry cook in the back of a fastfood place. Where no one would have to know her name."Right cus Kurayami means anything different." The boy scoffed. "Why'd you vote for Deku anyways?""Is that what you're mad about? B-because I didn't." Nova shrunk back. She glanced around. There were still a few other students in the classroom. But they were quickly leaving. Iida stopped at the door, trailing behind Uraraka who hadn't seemed to notice. She looked at him as he watched for a few seconds. Their eyes locking before he looked from her, to Bakugou, back to her. As though he knew what was going on...Nova's eyes were pleading, almost hopeful. Like she was begging him not to leave. But his expression hardened, and he turned his head away. As though he hadn't seen anything in the first place. And he walked out."Yeah fucking right." Bakugou scoffed. "You and that other chick were the only ones who didn't vote for yourselves.""S-so? Maybe I voted for Momo... You don't know." Nova argued, though she was trying her best not to make him even more mad. "Besides it doesn't matter... H-he gave it up anyways right?"She knew that in reality her voting for anyone wasn't why he was doing this. In reality he was just using this as an excuse to talk down to her. She knew his type. He had a problem with her in general."Shut up! You think you're better then everyone because you won that stupid test don't you?" He asked, getting closer to Nova. Who backed up."No." She shook her head, her heart beating quickly."You don't fucking belong here, Villain." He said. There it was. What he actually wanted to say to her. Nova looked down. "So why haven't you fucking quit yet?""I'm not a villain..." She denied, her voice a mumble."Then what the fuck are you? A hero?" He scoffed. "With a name like yours you're either a villain, or a nobody."He was right in a way. Or at least Nova thought so. She's been told things along those lines all her life. She didn't respond. Bakugou scoffed again and pulled away. "Won't even fucking stand up for yourself. How the hell are you supposed to help other idiots?" He asked, crossing his arms. She still didn't say anything. Hoping he'd get bored and just walk away."Do you think you're any better?"Nova's head swiveled. She hadn't realized there was still another student in here. Despite his size the boy was usually... Silent. In fact this was one of the few times Nova ever heard him speak.Bakugou's eyes narrowed as he slowly turned. "What'd you say tentacle freak?" He snapped.Shoji walked over and stood above both of them. Practically twice as tall as both her AND Bakugou. "A name doesn't matter as much as actions do. You act more villainous than anyone in our class. Especially Kurayami." He said, towering over Bakugou who glared up at him. Completely unfazed.Nova glanced around. Where the hell was Mr Aizawa when she needed him??"Playing hero huh tentacle boy?!" Bakugou scoffed. "I wasn't doing anything Villainous, I was just saying what everyone else is thinking.""I'm not thinking it." Shoji countered. "And I doubt the rest of our class is as crude as you are." Nova glanced up at Shoji, she couldn't find the strength to say anything to defend herself. Standing there as the two boys spoke over her."Yeah whatever. Freak." Bakugou snapped, throwing in the last word to try and strike a nerve. It didn't, the stoic boy stood there completely unbothered as far Nova could tell. Though his face was halfway concealed by a blue mask. One he always wore."Whatever, fuck this." Bakugou said. "If I ever catch either of you in training I'll blow your asses up!." He declared, stomping out of the classroom. Leaving her and the taller boy... Alone. She glanced up at him, not saying a word. She didn't know what to say... I mean it wasn't often someone stood up for her... In fact she really couldn't think of a time anyone had recently Other than Zoey."Uh... Thanks." She muttered finally. Looking up at him, then back down. Wrapping her arms around herself."Are you alright?" Shoji asked, almost as the same time as her thank you. "Yeah... I'm fine, don't worry about it." She shrugged. Biting her lip. More silence. So Nova took a breath and turned to walk away. Out of that stupid classroom. To her surprise he followed. Walking beside her, occasionally glancing down at her. Like he wanted to say something... But couldn't find the right words to do it."He's wrong you know." He muttered. "Your name shouldn't mean anything.""Thanks." She said again. This time without as much actual gratitude in her tone. Because that wasn't true. Her name meant everything. It dictated her entire life. It was practically her entire identity, everyone around her made sure that was true. She had no choice in the matter. Escape was impossible at this point. They kept walking. Before Nova knew what was happening, they had left campus together. Side by side. Like...Friends.A/N:
