Legacy

Nova listened intently as present Mic described the challenge ahead. It was easy, simply go in and defeat as many robots as possible. The more points the more likely you are to pass.

Nova looked at the card. Noticing how there was an extra robot on it, one he hadn't explained yet. She assumed he'd get to it eventually though. She wondered how many points she would need to get in. With her quirk it should be easy to destroy robots. As long as they were made of metal of course. But she didn't want to outshine anyone else... She simply wanted to do enough to get in, that's all.

She figured around seventy or eighty points would probably do it.

"EXCUSE ME!!! EXCUSE ME!!!"

Someone called out from the crowd. Everything went silent and suddenly there was a spotlight on a student with his hand up.

He was tall. Nova couldn't see him well from the back but he had glasses and a nice uniform. Nova didn't know what middle school it was from, but it was probably fancy.

"What's up!?" The teacher giving the presentation said in enthusiastic confusion.

"ON THE PRINTOUT YOUVE LISTED FOUR TYPES OF VILLAINS, NOT THREE." The boy said, pushing up his glasses.

Nova glanced down at the card. He had noticed the same thing she did. But saying it in front of hundreds of other students was... Embarrassingly ballsy.

"WITH ALL DUE RESPECT, IF THIS IS AN ERROR ON OFFICIAL UA MARTIALS IT IS SHAMEFUL." He accused. Nova raised her eyebrows. What was this guy thinking? Standing up and shaming UA, infront of everyone? Nova was dying of embarrassment, just from watching.

"I EXPECTED BETTER FROM JAPAN'S MOST NOTABLE HERO SCHOOL. A MISTAKE SUCH AS THIS WONT DO!" He said.

Nova covered her mouth. Just who the hell as this guy? Sure UA was a top school but come on... Can't they make a small mistake? It was probably just a misprint right? No big deal, no reason to challenge the integrity of the entire school.

"ADDITIONALLY!!" He turned and pointed behind him.

"He's not done???" Nova thought in horror as he gestured to another student.

"You with the unkempt hair." He said, Nova couldn't see who he was talking too, his voice was also quieter. But still carried across the auditorium. "You've been muttering this entire time. Stop that. If you can't bother to take this seriously leave. You're distracting the rest of us."

Nova along with many other students was in shock. Who was this guy? Was he someone important? Was it actually necessary to call out another student infront of everyone like that? For talking?

Nova bit her lip and leaned back in her chair. She was worried the guy would turn around and say something about her too. Even though they were across the auditorium from each other...

What would he think? About her even being here... If he knew she was the daughter of a notorious villain he'd probably drive her out with a pitchfork and torch.

"Sorry." A small voiced squeaked. Probably the poor kid he was picking on.

There were a few chuckles in the crowd.

"What's wrong with this guy? Does he have a stick up his ass or something?" A boy nearby Nova chuckled.

"I hope I don't end up in his class." A girl muttered to her friend. Nova couldn't help but agree.

"Alright alright, examinee number 711 thanks for calling in. But it isn't a mistake that the extra robot is on that paper. He's what we call a 'zero pointer' meaning you don't get anything for taking it down!" The teacher explained. Addressing the issue. "It's just an obstacle we put in your way. It's probably best to avoid it, it's not unbeatable but... Well it's just "POINTLESS" haha... Get it?"

Nova smiled lightly at the stupid pun. But didn't make a sound, like the rest of the auditorium.

"Tough crowd." Mic mumbled with a sigh.

"THANK YOU VERY MUCH... PLEASE CONTINUE." The boy who interrupted bowed and sat back down. His spotlight disappearing.

Nova tried to find him again in the dark but couldn't. She wondered what he felt after that... A part of her kinda hoped he felt a little embarrassed for his display. She looked down at her hands. Knowing the thought was kinda mean.

Maybe she was a villain...

Most of the teachers who weren't involved in running the exam were in an observation room. Ready to watch the screens and observe all examinees. While the villain points were automatically being tracked. They had the job of assigning 'rescue points' a secret system where they gave more points according to their behavior. If they were naturally heroic or not.

Nezu got up from his chair. The screens displayed the students waiting for the exams to start. Crowded by the gates, stretching and mentally preparing themselves for what was to come.

"Aizawa!" Nezu said, finding the pro tucked away in a corner. Away from the others with his arms crossed. A scarf around his neck and dark circles under his eyes.

"Nezu? What is it?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. It wasn't often he was singled out by the principal.

"I need your expertise." The mouse man hummed. "I want you to keep your eyes on a certain examinee. Tell me your opinion on her once the exam is over."

"What do you mean?" The tired teacher asked.

"What I mean... Is I'm letting you personally decide if she'll get into the hero course or not." He said with a smile.

Aizawa stared at him. This wasn't how the exams were supposed to work. They couldn't just pick and choose who to accept and who not too. "Why would I do that?"

"Don't tell the others. But when it comes to teaching... well You're one of the best. And when it comes to knowing character through simply observing someone... You're second only to me." The Principal said quietly. "I want to know your honest opinion on her. It's important."

"Alright fine..." Aizawa sighed, knowing he had to play along. "Who?"

"She's examinee 902." Nezu said, taking out a screen from his jacket. Showing footage, zoomed closer in on her specifically.

Aizawa looked at her. There wasn't anything remarkable about the girl. No obvious quirk yet. Her hair was a vibrant red. Pulled back tightly. She was in a uniform Aizawa recognized. He'd had several students that graduated from Junshi before. On average they did fairly well In his classes, due to previous training.

"What's so special about her anyways?" Aizawa asked, taking the screen.

"That's a secret." Nezu smiled.

"Fine. What's her name?"

"That's also a secret."

"What's wrong with you?"

"A lot of things... But that's irrelevant." Nezu shrugged. "Now watch...

It's about to begin."
