Something About Him

Cynthia's POV

"Cynthia..." I looked at Damien as he called out for me.

Cynthia?

"I'm leaving, baby, but before that..." He trailed off and before my brain could even process what he just said, he leaned down and...kissed me.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!

What are you doing? Dami...

As his lips moved against mine in a torturing slow pace, the chain of my thoughts broke and honestly my brain couldn't think about anything else other than just that and that alone...

Well, that being his lips, that were moving against mine as his hand reached up at the nape of my neck...his fingers pressing just enough against my skin there to erupt goosebumps all over my body, while my own hand traveled to settle on forearm of his hand that was grabbing me by the back of my neck and...I just couldn't help but kiss him back.

I mean come on, deep down even I know that I can never resist his lips on mine...no matter where we are! I couldn't resist them when he kissed me for the very first time on that stage and neither could I resist it now.

"Well...good night now, Sin" He whispered pulling apart just enough to say that, his lips brushing against mine.

He called me with the name that he has given me, and not Cynthia like he did a moment ago, which tells me that he's no longer mad and the playfulness and the smug on his face also tells me that he's rather enjoying this.

Not able to muster up any words, I just nodded my head at him, feeling breathless but obviously that wasn't enough for him as his baby blue eyes looked right into mine as he demanded.

"Words, babydoll"

And that new endearment that I just received...made me feel a weird warmth in the pit of my stomach and my cheeks turned rosy.

Damn! What are you doing to me? Damien.

I gulped before breaking my silence.

"Yeah, um...I. Good night" I stuttered as my body was still hot all over and my brain still fuzzy and stuck on that literally breathtaking kiss.

I licked my lower lip, still breathless while staring at his as he mirrored my action as if he wanted more as well, before just humming in response as if he was pleased with the reactions that he evokes from me. A familiar smirk playing on his lips as if he's proud of himself for doing what he just did in front of everybody...as if he just marked his territory...

Wait. What!? Everybody!?

And that's when my brain went back to normal and started processing stuff.

Jesus Christ!

What the fuck have I just done!?

No! Hell no! Not in front of my father!

No! No! No! Crap!

Gathering up all the courage within me, I finally glanced around the table while getting a deja vu of the night of our school play when Damien kissed me, on stage, out of nowhere.

I exhaled out a defeated breath as I took in everybody's shocked expressions.

Bethany winked at me, giving me a thumbs-up and also had this wide grin spread across her face, Madison seemed surprised but not too surprised and a small grin playing on her lips as well. Sean was as shocked as he would be when he ever sees a ghost, Steve was no less than him but he shook his head as if he already knew this was about to happen.

My eyes moved over to Charlie, who unlike everybody else wasn't shocked or even surprised, much to my surprise, but rather had amusement dancing in his eyes, then my eyes moved over to aunt Lucy and uncle Mack, who's expressions weren't any different from Steve and Sean's, then to my younger brother, Chase, who had his palms balled into fists, slammed on the dining table and shot daggers at Damien and looked as if he was ready to murder him any second now.

Then my gaze finally traveled to my mother, who just dropped her fork on her special and limited edition Italian crockery, with her mouth agape.

"Mum..." I whispered with a defeated sigh before my eyes finally settled on my father...hold on! Rather should I say, on my father's vacant chair, which was at the head of the table.

Where's my father?

Did he storm off!? Furious at me!? After the scene that just unfolded before him?

No! No, he didn't.

"Where's Paa?" I asked, panicked, my eyes moving back to my mother.

"Thankfully he excused himself to attend a call right before..." She trailed off, exhaling a sharp breath, before shaking her head, disappointed.

"Oh. Thank heavens!" I huffed out a sigh in relief as my shoulders fell.

"Crap! Bad timing!" Damien cursed.

He and I said at the same time.

I snapped my head at him, giving him a sharp look.

"Better luck next time I guess...for me" He winked at me, smirking.

Well, of course, how could I not figure it out earlier? He obviously did this to show my father...what kinda 'friends' we actually are.

Damien! I groaned mentally, rolling my eyes and shaking my head at him.

"Thank you so much for having me, Mrs. Miller, it was really an honor and the food was delicious" Damien said respectfully, turning to my mother, who was speechless but yet reacted with a slightest bit of smile.

How the fuck can he manage to be an asshole and a gentleman at the same damn time!?

"Bye, babydoll" His lips brushed against my ear while his warm breath fanned over my skin, sending tingling sensation throughout my body, making me grab a fistful of the fabric of my dress on my thigh. Placing a peck on my cheek, he got off his place.

I shut my eyes for a moment, exhaling a sharp breath.

Thank the great heavens that my father's not here currently to witness all of this.

But of course, the drama wasn't over yet because as I opened my eyes, I watched a furious looking Chase getting off his chair and quickly walking up to Damien, to stop him by placing a hand on his shoulder.

"How dare you think you could walk off just like that as if you didn't just do what you did!?" Chase snapped at him as he chuckled softly before turning around slowly and taking Chase's hand off his shoulder.

"Listen, young man..." Damien placed his hand on Chase's shoulder instead and I panicked, snapping my head to look at them so fast that I think I may have just sprained my neck.

"I really appreciate you being protective over your sister, that's a good trait, that's how a man should be..." He paused, nodding.

"But use that trait to scare off other guys away from her, not me...because, trust me, I'm not one of her cute little minion friends to be scared of you or even anybody else for that matter" He continued with a confident and dominating aura radiating off him.

"You get that? Kid" He added with a fake smile while patting his cheek before walking off, leaving us all speechless, including Chase.

"Man! He's got some balls" Sean made a comment in a low voice.

"Cynthia, don't you ever dare bring that guy into this home again" Chase said, his nostrils flaring with anger as he pointed a finger at me.

Oh come on! I rolled my eyes at him trying to be my father here.

"Hey! What's going on?" My father asked as he walked back into the dining room and obviously sensed something off about the whole aura in the air.

"Chase? What's wrong?" He asked.

"Nothing, Dad" Chase replied before storming off as my father chuckled at him.

"What's up with him now? Baby" My father asked as my mother just shook her head, brushing the topic off with her usual beautiful smile.

"Nothing, honey, just kids these day" My mother chuckled.

"Come, I was just about to serve dessert" She added, changing the topic swiftly as my father nodded, smiling at her but before he could take a seat, he noticed my flustered face.

"Princess..." He walked upto me, worried.

"Are you okay? Sweetheart, you look flustered"

I forced a smile on my lips as the blush on my cheeks probably grew a shade deeper.

"Don't worry, Paa, I'm okay"

But that didn't seem to convince him.

"No, you don't look okay, your face is red, it seems like you may also have fever, here let me check" He said before reaching to touch my cheek.

"Princess, your temperature seems high, come on we're going to the doctor" He added and I could tell that he was already panicking.

"Paa. Paa, please, I'm fine, really" I said holding his hand, stopping him when he tried to make me stand.

"And we cannot ditch our Christmas dinner" I shrugged, hoping that hearing this he would just drop this subject already...because I was already embarrassed as is it.

"Screw dinner!" He replied instead.

"Edward! Language" My mother shook her head at him.

"Darling, look at her, her face is red, her temperature seems high but yet she just won't go to the doctor" My father replied in disbelief.

"Edward relax, your daughter will survive, she just..." My mother trailed off, probably not knowing what to say.

"Just what?" My father asked, frowning and I knew that he wouldn't even listen to my mother when it comes to me or my health...because that's how much he loves me...

And just that thought alone is now making me feel guilty.

"Hey! Ed, maybe it's just all the spicy food that she just ate" Uncle Mack intervened to help and I sighed in relief before nodding my head vigorously as my friends joined with agreement, mumbling a 'Yeah, correct' too.

"Are you guys kidding me right now!?" My father looked at us in disbelief.

"Mack, are you forgetting that her mother is Indian?" He added.

"She has had such kinda food ever since childhood, she's used to it"

Oh yeah, how can we forgot that he's smarter than all of us combined, I smacked my forehead mentally.

"Yeah..." Uncle Mack nodded before giving me a sorry look, almost as if saying that he couldn't help me further in this matter.

"Come on, Princess, let's go, or wait, do you want me to call him home?" He asked in a haste before pulling out his phone.

"Wait a minute, I'll just..."

"Mr. Miller, let's just focus on dessert for now..." Sean jumped in with his stupid idea, interrupting my father, who glared at him, coldly.

"Or-Or not, maybe" Sean stuttered.

"That's a no I guess" He added, with his head hung low.

"Fuck!" I heard him mumble.

"Paa, you're right I'm not fine, and I just feel like getting some sleep, I just didn't want to be a spoil sport which is why I didn't say it earlier" I lied, instantly feeling a pang of guilt in my heart.

As much as I hate lying to him, but I had to, as I knew that his love and concern for me wouldn't let him let this go easily.

"So...can I? Please" I gave him my best puppy dog eyes, which I know he always falls for.

He sighed.

"Alright, Princess, go get some rest..." He paused.

"But if you feel even slightest bit of discomfort, you'll inform me right away" He continued, firmly.

"Will do, Paa" I got off my chair and placing a kiss on his cheek, I left as quickly as I could.

"I hope she's fine" I heard my father's fading voice as I walked out, his voice seemed so sad.

"She is, baby. Relax!" My mother replied and without even looking, I could tell that she was rolling her eyes at him.

"And where did that friend of hers ran off to suddenly?" That was the last thing that I heard my father ask as I ran up to my room and walked straight into the balcony to catch a fresh breath of air.

God! My heart is still racing, I thought to myself while resting a hand over my pounding heart.

I breathed heavily as I looked out at our beautiful backyard, only to frown in confusion as my eyes landed on a very familiar figure, leaning against a tree.

No way!

This guy...

I shook my head, before rushing down to the backyard through my balcony which led straight down to it.

"I thought you left" I said firmly, folding my hands over my chest, glaring at him.

"And I also thought that you quit smoking not even twenty four hours ago" I added in disbelief as I noticed him taking a drag of his cigarette.

"It's a free world, baby, we are all allowed to think whatever we like..." He paused before taking another drag.

"Just as you thought that it would be smart to introduce me as your friend to your parents" He continued sarcastically, putting great emphasis on the term 'friends'.

Oh. I knew it already. I knew what this was all about. Of course, the term 'friend' has been bothering him since the very beginning of this evening.

"So, just a friendly reminder, there's no fucking chance that I would ever quit smoking for some random friend of mine" He added bitterly before taking one last drag and crushing the cigarette butt under his shoe clad feet.

"But you made sure, didn't you?" I nodded my head.

"Made sure what?" He mumbled, confused, tucking his hands into his pockets.

"Made sure that they know that we are anything but friends" I replied as he looked at me as if I was completely out of my mind to be upset over the stunt that he just pulled inside.

"Of course! Of course, I had to make sure that everybody knew...scratch that, not everybody but just your father, I had to make sure that he knew exactly what we are" He said.

"But damn that phone call! He left just before I kissed you" He added, clicking his tongue, making a tch sound, as if he really hated the fact that my father left right on time.

"Damien! Are you out of your mind!? Why did you have to kiss me in front of my father!? What the hell were you trying to prove?" I questioned in disbelief.

"Sin, you're so naive. Don't you see it? Your father hates my guts. He doesn't wants me to be in your life...even as a goddamm friend! He wants to throw me out of your life the first chance he gets" He snapped.

"So I just had to make sure that he knows that he could hate me all he wants but there's absolutely no shit that he can do about me..." He paused.

"Because honestly, screw your father! I don't give a fuck what he thinks about me" He continued, causing me to gasp at the way he spoke about my father, he may be nothing to him but he's my father, I love him and he means everything to me.

My eyes brimmed with tears almost instantly.

Guess we're about to have our first fight then.

"Turns out all parents are the same apparently, no matter what part of world they belong to. They just never cease to disappoint their kids..." He stopped right at the moment when he noticed tears in my eyes.

His eyes soften instantly and he sighed before walking towards me.

"Sin..."

"Don't touch me!" I slapped his hand away when he tried to touch my arm, but as if that was going to stop him, he held my elbow anyways and pulled me towards him gently.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that, baby" He said, cupping my cheek as I looked at him for a moment before speaking.

"You're lying" I replied, squinting my eyes at him as he looked a bit taken aback for a moment before chuckling while his eyes danced with amusement.

"You got me there, I kinda am...I did mean to say what I did but..." He paused, tucking a loose hair strand behind my ear.

"Now that I see that my words have hurt you, I genuinely do feel sorry for saying that" He continued.

"I would never hurt you, Sin...that's not even the last thing that I would ever do" He added and I could see it in his eyes that he wasn't lying this time.

"But you can't deny the fact that your father hates my guts...did you see the way he rubbed it in my face how you and that..." He stopped, clenching his jaw, looking elsewhere.

"Me and what?" I frowned.

"How you and that bastard were inseparable as kids" He replied, his nostrils flaring with anger.

"Charlie?" I chuckled, amazed, knowing what my father said was anything but true.

"Don't even utter his fucking name" He warned.

"And you..." He shook his head.

"You are no less than your father. That fucker shows up and you don't just run to him, you also literally throw yourself right into his arms" He continued, his voice raising.

"Damien..." I began, only to be interrupted by him.

"No. Don't Damien me"

"You may have been inseparable as kids but you're not a kid anymore, so the next time I see that happening again, I'll fucking punch the living daylights out of him" He said firmly.

"Inseparable" He made a face, imitating my father and I couldn't help but laugh at him.

"What are you laughing at now!?" He snapped.

"Nothing, you're just too adorable when you're jealous" I replied grinning as he stepped closer and encircled his arms around my waist.

"I'm not jealous, baby" He said, his deep voice melting my insides like ice on fire.

"I just don't share what's mine..." He paused, his gaze piercing into my very soul.

"And you, Cynthia Miller, are mine...all mine"

And I couldn't help but blush at that, getting butterflies in my stomach at the way he called me his.

"And why should I be jealous anyways...when I know that he'll never have what I do..." He paused.

"And...what might that be? Damien" I asked softly, encircling my arms around his neck, drowning into the ocean of his blue eyes, even though deep down I already knew what he was talking about.

"You..."
